— THE HONEST PROBLEM
You started by cleaning out a closet, and then one day you were buying things on purpose to flip. Those two situations are treated differently at tax time, and knowing which one you're in changes what you owe and what you can write off. The trouble is, by the time anybody asks, the receipts are gone and the app history is a mess.
So this kit does the boring part with you. You write down what you bought, what you sold, what it cost and the miles you drove, and you keep it current in about ten minutes a week.

— WHO IT'S FOR

— COMMON QUESTIONS
It depends on why you bought the item. Selling your own things for less than you paid is generally not taxable, and that loss isn't deductible. If you made a profit on a personal item, that profit is taxable. And if you bought something specifically to resell, that's business income, so you report the sales and subtract what the items cost you.
— NEXT STEP
One conversation is usually all it takes to know whether your selling is something to plan around.
