ITIN SERVICES

An IRS Certifying Acceptance Agent, so your documents stay with you.

Melissa Griffin is an IRS Certifying Acceptance Agent, which means your identity documents can be verified in person instead of mailed off to the IRS.

— WHAT IT IS

What an ITIN is, and who needs one.

An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, or ITIN, is issued by the IRS to people who have a federal tax filing requirement but don't qualify for a Social Security number. It's a tax processing number only, and it doesn't authorize work in the U.S. or change immigration status.

We commonly help nonresident and resident aliens filing a U.S. return, spouses or dependents of U.S. citizens or residents, and others who need to be identified on a federal return but don't have an SSN.

— THE CAA ADVANTAGE

Why a Certifying Acceptance Agent matters.

Without a Certifying Acceptance Agent, an ITIN applicant typically has to mail original identity documents, like a passport, to the IRS and wait for them to be returned. As a CAA, Melissa can review and verify those original documents in person, certify copies for the application, and hand your originals right back to you. Nothing leaves your hands and goes into the mail to Austin, Texas.

THE PROCESS

From consultation to submission.

  1. No. 01

    Book a consultation

We'll talk through why you need an ITIN and confirm it's the right path for your situation.

  2. No. 02

    Bring your documents

As a Certifying Acceptance Agent, Melissa reviews your identity documents in person and certifies copies for the IRS.

  3. No. 03

    We prepare the application

Your Form W-7 is prepared alongside your tax return, or on its own if that's what your situation calls for.

  4. No. 04

    Submitted to the IRS

The application and certified copies are submitted to the IRS. From there, processing time is entirely in the IRS's hands.

— ON TIMELINE

We won't promise a date, because we don't control it.

Once an ITIN application is submitted, IRS processing generally takes several weeks. We'll get your application filed accurately and promptly, and we'll tell you honestly once it's in, but the processing clock from there belongs to the IRS.
